Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-18
Welcome to SkiNav. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SkiNav mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use SkiNav. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for the security of your account credentials.
- You may not share your account or impersonate another person.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- You may delete your account at any time from inside the app (Account → Delete account).
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, or stalk other users.
- Share content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or infringes others' rights.
- Use someone else's invite code to impersonate them or harvest contacts.
- Misuse the SOS feature — for example, by triggering false emergencies. Misuse may have legal consequences in your jurisdiction.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. User-generated content
You retain ownership of content you create (display name, avatar, run recordings, and any optional SOS message). By using the Service you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service — for example, to show your avatar to your friends or relay an SOS message to them.
Personal pins and notes you create stay on your device and are not uploaded to us, so they are not covered by this licence — though you may choose to share a pin yourself via your phone's share sheet.
You are responsible for the content you create. We may remove content that violates these Terms.
5. Friendships and shared location
When you accept a friend request, you grant the other user permission to see your broadcast location while the app is open. You may revoke this at any time by removing the friendship.
6. Safety disclaimer — important
SkiNav is an informational and navigational tool. It is not a substitute for trained judgement, local knowledge, or emergency services.
- Skiing and snowboarding carry inherent risk of injury or death. You alone are responsible for the choices you make on the mountain, including whether a slope is safe given the conditions.
- Routes shown by the app are computed from open data and may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect. Lifts and trails may be closed, dangerous, or impassable in ways the app does not know about.
- Always follow official resort signage, ski patrol instructions, and posted closures, even when they conflict with what the app shows.
- The SOS feature is not a replacement for emergency services. It alerts your friends and may open the phone dialler with the local ski patrol's number, but it does not directly contact emergency responders, and delivery is not guaranteed — it depends on cellular reception, push delivery, and your friends' devices being on and connected. In a real emergency, call your local emergency number first.
- GPS positioning may be inaccurate, especially in dense terrain, buildings, or in lift stations. Do not rely on it as your sole means of navigation.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, and we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. This includes — without limitation — injury, death, or property damage occurring while skiing, snowboarding, or otherwise on the mountain.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain liability. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers for mapping/cartography, weather, push notifications, authentication, and hosting. Their availability and accuracy are outside our control, and your use of those services is also subject to their own terms. See our Privacy Policy for the current list of providers.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if continuing to provide the Service to you becomes legally or technically infeasible.
10. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may change features, pricing, or these Terms over time. Material changes to the Terms will be surfaced in the app before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, unless mandatory local law of your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
